"There is more to recycling printer cartridges than injecting ink and re-selling them," said Eric Cozart, Coldwater native and VP of operations for Cartridges Unlimited, a national service company based in Coldwater, at a recent Noon Exchange Club presentation. "At Cartridges Unlimited we re-manufacture the empty cartridge. This includes cleaning the toner hopper, replacing the drum, the charger roller, the magnetic roller, the doctor blades and the integrated chip."
"The money savings in re-manufacturing depends upon the cartridge but you should expect between 25 percent to 50 percent. Sometimes, we are able to provide a 75 percent savings. The re-manufactured cartridge is just as good as new."
"We are also helping the environment and conserving oil at the same time. More than 500 million toner and inkjet cartridges are manufactured every year. If they aren’t recycled, they go to a landfill at the rate of 1,000 tons per day. The oil which it takes to make plastic for these thrown away cartridges is consumed at a rate of 375 million gallons per year.
Founded in 1994, Cartridges Unlimited, LLC is a leading North American manufacturer of premium replacement ink and toner cartridges.
